HOMECOMING 2012: ‘Almost Home’-coming Rescue Run & Mutt Strutt
Homecoming 2012 was an absolute blast.
The week kicked off on Sunday with a 4.5 mile run and 1 mile walk with the Almost Home No Kill Animal Shelter in Southfield. For just $15, I got to play with puppies, get my Homecoming 2012 t-shirt, run around the beautiful Southfield City Centre and Lawrence Tech, drink Faygo floats, and eat unlimited coney dogs from Kerby’s Koney Island! Absolutely nothing bad in that equation, right?
This was the first distance run of any sort that I ever did. I didn’t place too well (dead last, i think…), but I enjoyed the experience. Maybe next year I’ll do the 1 mile walk instead!

SPAM Banquet at The Whitney
At the end of every school year, SPAM holds a banquet to honor the great work that we produced throughout the previous year! This year, we held the banquet at The Whitney which is a gorgeous restaurant (and haunted old mansion!) just outside of Downtown Detroit.

Young & Free Michigan Spokester
According to Michigan First Credit Union, Young & Free is the Credit Union’s “ongoing effort to give the 17-to-25 crowd a voice, a head start, and useful information.” Basically, it’s designed to aid young adults in making responsibly financial decisions with a representative–Spokester, as they call it–from that age group who is charismatic and relate-able.
Currently, Lawrence Tech alum Janelle O’Hara holds the position, but her term ends very soon! Fortunately, two more Lawrence Tech students, Austin Chapman and Erian O’Neal, are fighting about 30 other contestants for the position.
